Location Engineering for CD or Live Broadcast

We have a very large collection of audio recording equipment intended for location recording. We specialise in classical recording for CD, but also have enormous experience in broadcast and live recording for both television and radio. We can undertake work in any part of the world, as everything is designed to be transportable by road or air. In addition we now own a brand new state of the art mobile recording truck which features the latest technology including fibre optic connections to the stage. At any one time we are able to work on up to five projects, depending on the scale and complexity of each. Although we normally supply a balance engineer for each session, we are also able to offer a "dry-hire" service where we supply equipment with an assistant engineer. This allows clients to use their own balance engineers if they prefer. All our technicians are fully familiar with our equipment and can ensure a smooth running of the sessions.

Studio Engineering

All our engineers have worked in all of the UK's most prestigious recording studios. We are able to offer competitive rates for supplying engineering services in these studios, or will organize our client's studio bookings on a non-comission basis.

Record Production

We have a number of in-house producers, who between them have a vast experience in different types of recording situation. They have worked for many different record labels with many different artists, and are used to adapting their production styles to suit the circumstances. Depending on the client's requirements we can suggest whoever we feel may be most suitable. In addition, we also have excellent contacts with a number of well established freelance producers, who we can negotiate with on behalf of our clients.

Post Production and Mastering

At our West London premises we have what are generally regarded as the highest quality editing studios in London. The three rooms are purpose built with fully floating floors and acoustic treatment by Harris Grant Associates. We use digital editing systems by Pyramix and Sonics Solutions which are linked together on a high speed network. This allows multiple projects to be undertaken at one time, and our editors work a shift system to ensure that maximum use is made of the rooms. As well as editing many of the projects that our own engineers record, we also undertake editing for external clients, many of whom are major record labels. We can handle any source format and will deliver an edited master or CD production master on any required destination format. In addition, we operate a re-mastering service which utilises the latest advances in digital re-mastering algorithms to maximize the audio quality obtainable on CD from analogue or digital sources. Most importantly, all our editors are exceptional musicians, and can guarantee to get the most out of the material they are presented with.

Project Management to CD Manufacture

We will organize all aspects of recording projects to a clients specification. We can book artists, venues, engineers, editors and producers and organise the entire project through to finished CD. We can advise or artwork design and obtain CD pressing runs from as little as 50 units to order.

Multi-media Production

Through our extensive contacts and associate companies we are able to advise on and undertake all aspects of multi-media projects. We work closely with a number of film and television companies, and also have access to all equipment required for video, CD-ROM, or DVD mastering.

Executive management

We offer an executive production service, whereby we can initiate and co-ordinate recording projects for license or sale to record labels and broadcasting organisations. We have close contacts with all the major record labels, and can often pre sell artists' ideas to prospective record companies.

Broadcasting facilities

Floating Earth is an experienced independent producer for radio and television. Under the new arrangements for the BBC we submit a number of our own programmes each year as well as collating programme suggestions from many of the artists that we work with throughout the year. In addition to broadcasting our own programs, we frequently supply broadcast facilities to other independent producers. This can involve production, engineering, and editing as an all-in package, or any of these services can be provided individually.
